Before sunsetting 2023, we want to acknowledge the tremendous strides Parento has made as a program to continue to support working parents and transform workplaces nationwide. Our 2023 Impact Report is a high-level summary of our secret sauce: work that matters.

Our small but mighty team is supercharged everyday to push hard for better workplace support for working parents, through meaningful access to paid parental leave and parental support. We strongly believe that better workplaces for parents lead to better outcomes for families and better communities.

2023 was a pivotal year for Parento. Let’s dive in.

Our Program Grew: Introducing Parent Experience

In 2023, we expanded our suite of products to provide more solutions for HR and parents. By onboarding an inaugural Director of Parent Experience, Amanda Hemm, we built out the parent coaching arm of Parento into the Parent Experience Program with three distinct offerings. Now, employees and their partners can mix-and-match from three different offerings: Parento Coaching, individual coaching; Parental Leave Pathways, design a birth and parental leave plan and calendar; and Parento Pods, group coaching for parenting cohorts.

All of our programs and materials - worksheets, toolkits, and more - have been designed by an expert parent coach and postpartum doula. As a younger generation of parents is interested in holistic birth and postpartum care, doula access is fundamental for parents who want less medical intervention and want to explore a healthier way to birth and recover. We’re proud to offer access to a postpartum doula for all employees and their partners.

Other BIG Milestones

Our founder became a father!

In 2023, our founder and CEO, Dirk Doebler, became a first-time father. Despite spending more than four years building a company to support working parents, he himself wasn’t a parent. Ironic right?  Interestingly enough, Dirk understood that parenthood was not a prerequisite to demand a robust and supportive paid parental leave program. And he understood the economics behind paid parental leave insurance: save employers money and help working parents afford parenthood. Simple.

We grew our team!

The Parento team tripled its headcount in 2023, while still maintaining a strong sense of camaraderie and collaboration. Our team is still 100% remote, working across eight states (California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Washington, Wisconsin).

In 2023 we also became Great Place to Work Certified, with a 100% confidence in leadership rating. As a small team, building a positive and encouraging work culture is critical to what we do. We pride ourselves on these pillars:

  1. Transparency and access to leadership
  2. Autonomy with no micro managing
  3. Constantly asking questions to better our product and services
  4. Open dialogue and conversations
  5. Cross team and department collaboration - no one exists in a silo!

We joined the portfolio companies of leaders in the care economy and social infrastructure.

In 2023 we were backed by Springbank Collective, Human Ventures, ffVC, Greenlight Re, and the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator. With the support of these leaders in the famtech space, we can expand our products, invest in our team and infrastructure, and better support working parents through paid parental leave. We’re excited for this new stage!

We created a real difference for working parents.

Everyday, we worked hard to create better workplaces for parents. Through us parents had access to generous paid parental leave, personalized programming, a concierge to manage their leave processes, and unlimited resources. You can read more about the real impact we made in creating an equitable workplace for Rescue Agency’s employees across 27 states.

I'll admit that at first, I wasn't quite sure what Parento coaching was and whether or not we needed it, but now I could not endorse coaching more strongly! Our coach is the best coach/mentor/therapist my partner or I have ever had. - Alex Escamilla-Rosenberg, Rescue Agency
