Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown steadily each year— our team, our products, and our commitment to working parents. 2024 was about normalizing access to paid parental leave and helping companies of all sizes and industries better support their parent employees. From expanding our product and creating more resources to empower all parents, we also refined the Parento program and proudly pioneered paid parental leave in unconventional industries. Here are a few highlights.

Expanding Our Product Suite

We’ve enhanced our offerings to make paid parental leave easier to manage for both employers and employees. To improve ease of use, we enhanced the Parento Portal with a more intuitive design and a new dashboard to help both employees and employers manage claims, processes, and coaching. We also launched the self-funded paid parental leave program for companies that self-fund their paid parental leave policies but need expert support to streamline budgeting and process management. This option is a great fit for larger companies or those in competitive job markets and niche industries.

Judgment-Free Resources and Coaching Support

Parenting is complex, and we know that parents need support throughout their journey. Parent coaching and support has touched countless families, helping them navigate the complexities of parental leave and supporting them on their parenting journeys.

“[My coach] eased my anxieties as a new parent, and if I could only choose one virtual resource for parental support, it would hands-down be [coaching]!”

Besides parent coaching, we made it our top priority to provide the best possible parental leave experience for both parents and easing the workload for employers. Here are a few new developments launched in 2024 to enhance Parento’s beloved Parent Experience program:

  • Parento Library: A collection of over 100 self-guided, research-backed articles, toolkits, and worksheets. Parents and their partners have 24/7 access to these resources, all created by our in-house parenting coach and doula.
  • Parento Pods: Group coaching sessions for parents, which were particularly popular for topics like Sustainable Foundations and Building Capacity + Confidence.
  • Prepared Parenting Workshops: Quarterly workshops for new and first-time parents, as well as a monthly webinar series for experienced parents.

Empowering Parents with “Gimme Parental Leave”

In March 2024, we also introduced Gimme Parental Leave, a parent-focused platform dedicated to advocating for equitable and accessible paid parental leave in the workplace. Gimme offers a free 30+ page toolkit designed to educate and empower parents to become paid parental leave champions. Our educational and advocacy content remains free and will always be available to parents.

Pioneering Paid Parental Leave in Unconventional Industries

Another exciting highlight is that paid parental leave, once a benefit exclusive to startups and tech companies, is now spreading across a variety of industries. In 2024, we saw significant adoption of paid parental leave in traditionally blue-collar sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, and trucking services, as well as among nonprofit and public entities. This widespread adoption signals the growing importance of paid parental leave for employee engagement and retention, even in sectors with tight budgets.

Our clients—ranging from public entities to digital marketing agencies to nonprofits—saw improved employee engagement and retention. By providing them with the tools and resources they need to offer meaningful paid parental leave, we helped them create more supportive environments for working parents.

Propelling Paid Parental Leave Conversations

In September 2024, we co-hosted the inaugural Parental Leave Summit alongside Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice. This was the first-ever conference dedicated exclusively to paid parental leave. We also produced over 13 toolkits, guides, and fact sheets, totaling more than 100 pages of educational content. In addition, we hosted 19 webinars for parents, employers, benefit brokers, and advocates throughout the year.

Amplifying the Future

As we reflect on the year and look towards the future, we’re proud of our achievements, but we’re just getting started. We’re excited to amplify the conversation around paid parental leave even further in 2025. Our goals for the future include:

  • Amplifying resources for parents to advocate for gender-neutral paid parental leave.
  • Amplifying the financial and health benefits of paid parental leave for parents, babies, and companies.
  • Amplifying how companies can leverage paid parental leave to retain top talent.
  • Amplifying the importance of men taking paid parental leave and the need for positive, supportive messaging.

We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to continue driving change and making a real difference in the lives of working parents.
